Any where! Any time! New Year's Day 2021
Hillsborough, NJ US 08844

While this news is likely not unexpected, and it may seem early to make the call, the reality is that much of the planning for an event like the Resolution Run takes place now. Sadly, we can’t see a 600 people shoulder to shoulder in the municipal building being allowed or a good idea anytime soon. We are as upset as you. This year we were looking forward to welcoming 2021 and especially saying goodbye to 2020.

We hope you will still join us, albeit virtually.  We have a tradition of showing up on New Year’s Day regardless of the weather, regardless of how late we were up the night before and hopefully now regardless of a global pandemic.

Early Bird Registration is available through midnight, October 15, 2020. The fee is $32. After that date, the registration fee will go to $37.  A $3 discount applies for participants 18 and under.

You choose when and where to run or walk your 5K on New Year’s Day and opt to submit your results and pictures on our website. The Resolution Run requests that you run/walk according to all current CDC guidelines and that you do not use the actual course as there will be no police protection.

All participants will receive our special edition, long sleeve hooded sweatshirt to keep you warm all Winter long. Participants will have the option to pick up their hoodie at a Hillsborough business in the days leading up to January 1st or have it direct shipped to your home for a $10 fee.

Race proceeds will benefit Project Graduation for Hillsborough High School Class of 2021 and Hillsborough’s Rock Steady Boxing

It is our hope that graduates of Hillsborough's Class of 2021 will enjoy a high-spirited, all-night celebration and party immediately following the commencement exercises in June. This popular local effort is part of a nationally recognized program whose goal is to provide a drug and alcohol free celebration of life while giving graduates a positive sendoff. According to the Prosper Press in a publication dated February 21, 2016: The percentage of teen automobile fatalities involving alcohol jumps from 33 percent to 40 percent on the night of graduation. One-third of those younger than 21 who die in car accidents lose their lives during graduation season. In a 2010 poll, 79 percent of seniors admitted teens were more likely to drink and drive on graduation night. In the event that Project Graduation needs to be cancelled in 2021, the Project Graduation Committee will determine the best use of the funds.

Rock Steady Boxing is a unique program in Hillsborough organized by Barbara Kelly to improve symptoms and quality of life in people diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. This cause is important to us as the Resolution Run Founder, Gary Verhoorn, says this program has helped him tremendously following his own diagnosis. Our goal is to fund educational programs and support a scholarship program for those in our community who may not be able to participate as a result of limited funds.

Lastly, as part of our commitment to replenish the Hillsborough Food Bank after the holiday season, participants will have the option of adding on a $5 donation at check out in place of the canned goods they would have brought on race day.
